In the heart of one of the deepest canyons in Europe
Among the good intentions of 2019 is to resume with serious walks and then on Sunday we opted for a training trek, also aimed at finding a path that leads us back to Sa Portiscra without having to get to the gorge.
Unsuccessful search because of the ground conditions on the right bank of the Flumineddu in many places is yielding, indeed it is just to come down. In addition, the vegetation has covered most of the traces. The walk was nevertheless beautiful and we enjoyed the beautiful sunny day.
To get to the Canyon of Gorroppu there are several alternatives: one from the territory of Dorgali, bridge de Sa Barva or Abba arva, one from Genna Silana, from Campo Base Gorroppu that you find along the SS 125 and the most demanding and technical that provides the integral crossing starting from the other entrance.
The walk from the bridge of Sa Barva is quite easy and has no difficulty and with a normal pace you reach the gorge in about 2 hours.
Along the way you can admire a beautiful panorama with the ridges of Mount Oddeu on your right and on the left those that overlook the SS 125. The sound of water will certainly keep you company, sometimes you will also find some rest areas and two beautiful sources.
For those who want to visit Gorroppu, which we recommend to those who have never seen it, you will find the guide at the entrance that will give you all the information. The ticket is € 5 whole and € 3.50 reduced. For further information you can contact the Chintula company that manages the service.
On wikiloc the trace of our path, with a clarification. At one point we leave the main path to visit the ruins of the church of Sant’Anna. The path then leads to the Flumineddu that we followed until you get to the entrance of the gorge. You have to do a little bit of attention on the riverbed if you follow this alternative.
